Villa De Flora at Gaylord Palms

We have enjoyed an excellent Sunday lunch at Villa de Flora which is one of the restaurants at the Gaylord Palms hotel complex.

It is a lovely mediterranean themed restaurant with a fairly relaxed feel and a wide range of delicious dishes, served as a help yourself buffet where you eat as much as you want at a very reasonable price.

When we dined there the choice of foods extended to salads, soups, breads, fruit, omelets, fish such as smoked salmon and crusted salmon, succulent meats such as coq au Vin and some truly wonderful beef. There was also pasta, rice and potatoes.

Everything was prepared to perfection and we found the staff to be very friendly and helpful.

The choice of puddings was also wonderful with various cakes, pastries and cookies as well as the ability to make up your own Ice Cream Sundae and as if that was not enough there was a fabulous chocolate fountain with a variety of fruits and other delights to be generously coated in chocolate - truly a chocolate lovers dream come true.

We found that the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere which was added to by a couple who played Spanish guitar and violin, in fact having mentioned that it was my birthday it was quite a surprise when our waitress arrived with a sundae already prepared sporting a candle accompanied by the two musicians who then played Happy Birthday to me. It was this sort of extra touch which to us made this a very enjoyable meal.

Having enjoyed a nice Sunday Brunch, it was also an experience to be able to walk around the hotel which has a huge glass atrium in the centre under which you can walk around and explore a Spanish Fort, look at alligators which are living by the river which flows through the area, or wander through the everglades area with fog hanging over the water and a path leading you to a shack where you can see snakes and baby alligators.

As well as this there are some nice shops to browse around and pick up some nice mementoes, designer clothes, jewellery or handbags, or what about some golf gear from the PGA tour shop.

If the chocolate fountain in Villa de Flora wasn't enough then, there is also a Chocolatier where you will find an enticing range of truffles and other treats. Of course you will also find a Disney store where you pick up plenty of Disney themed items.

Villa de Flora and Gaylord Palms is somewhere which is worth going to whether you are looking for a special meal or just something a little different.
