Chilis - Champions Gate - Orlando / Florida Guide

Florida Guide > Dining

I didn’t really know what to expect the first time we decided to go to Chili’s for a meal. I am not a great lover of spicy food and would normally avoid anything with chili’s in it, so I was slightly apprehensive to say the least.

We decided to visit the Chili’s at Champions Gate just off junction 58 of the Interstate 4 and only minutes from our villa. We were with family so we needed a table for 8 and decided to eat early.

We arrived and sent the boys in to find out how long the wait time was – just 10 minutes was the reply so we were quite happy with that.

The staff were really friendly and put us all on table together – the youngsters the one end and the adults the other. First they took our drinks orders and to my surprise it was 2 for 1 on all house wines and draft beers – so that was an easy choice for me a large glass of my favorite white Zinfandel, the men had beers, my cousins wife had a margarita cocktail and the youngsters having their normal coke and diet cokes.

The menu looked amazing such a wide selection of food to suit everyone tastes. We opted first of all to have starters to share these consisted of;

Crispy onion strings and jalapeno stack (I left the jalapeno’s)

Wings over buffalo with a fantastic cool bleu cheese dressing

Texas cheese fries

Then onto our main courses, I choose the ‘Big Mouth Bites’, which was four mini burgers, topped with applewood smoked bacon, American cheese, onions and a ranch dressing all on a sesame seed bun. These were served with yet more onion strings! - What can I say they were lovely but there was far too much for me to eat.

Mike opted for the Fajitas and the teenagers opted for chicken crispers with corn on the cob and fries. Everyone really enjoyed their food but there was far too much for everyone.

The men and the teenagers were now talking about desserts – personally there was no chance of me eating another thing. They opted for the molten chocolate cake to share with vanilla ice cream. During desserts the balloon man arrived at the table and all of the youngsters decided they wanted a balloon animal (you would have thought that a 11 & 15 year old would have grown out of that now! ).

The kids also opted for the frosty chocolates shakes but that was one thing too far and they ended up having to have them transferred into take out cups and drank them later at the villa. We all loved our meal here and will certainly be back in the future – it’s an ideal restaurant to go to on our way back to the villa after a long day at the parks or even for a quick lunch.

Chilis also have a drive thru so if you don’t want to eat in the restaurant you can pre-order by phone or on-line and just pop down and pick up your meal.
