Fort Lauderdale
Is a very lively resort there are lots of discos and café bars and has a very good night life and is a great choice to add a bit of fun to your Orlando vacation
Fort Lauderdale has two main areas the downtown area has lots of parks and is quite pleasant to walk along the pedestrian river walk.
The other area is the Las Olas Boulevard where there you will find the shopping district; here you will find many boutiques, restaurants and galleries
You can also take a trip on one of the many scuba diving adventures. these take place on the just off shore reefs and are great fun to do you can get lessons for the novice so no one misses out on the fun
There are also river boat rides through the canals the nick name for this area is Venice of the Americas
You can also take a cruise from there as the cruise line carnival
(Amongst others) sail out of there to several different destinations
The beach at Fort Lauderdale has also got a very good beach with an attractive promenade where you see the inline skaters, cyclists, and joggers.
The beach at fort Lauderdale is approx seven miles long you can also do jet skiing or wind surfing. There is a two mile stretch of beach that is supervised by the ocean rescue team this is in operation all year round.
They do have events that take place in and around the beach at certain times of the year.
We were there last year for 4th of July and they had concerts and games for kids of all ages to enjoy. Then later on at sunset they had a huge firework display (this was on Las Olas Boulevard.
We were also told that a great number of concerts take place through the summer months at Holiday park.
There is also wonderful museums at Fort Lauderdale the one we enjoyed was called the Museum of Discovery and science and it had an Imax theatre in it
But there are lots of other Museums to visit covering any subject from arts to history
Fort Lauderdale several years ago got a poor reputation for students getting drunk and causing mayhem during spring break but the local officials stopped all this and as a result the area is a great place to visit
