OUR RECENT EVENING IN DOWNTOWN NAPLES

On a recent trip to Orlando and then the Gulf Coast we headed for one of our favourite locations and that is Naples. Being quite an affluent city it attracts wealthy American and Europeans alike and has also got its fair share of tourists and wanabeeas. It is not unusual to see a familiar face when dining in town at 5th Avenue South in down town Naples.
5th Avenue South is somewhere we really enjoy as it is full of plush restaurants, cafes, pubs, galleries, antique stores, craft stores, salons, books shops plus fine shops selling an array of luxury goods and the whole place has a general feel good factor both during the day and in the evenings when the whole place comes alive. There is a small theatre and quite often before or after a show the restaurants are all full of theatre goers enjoying some fine food before or after the performance. During the day the area is filled with city types as there are a number of banks and financial offices in the area.
My favourite place to eat and where we dined on this particular night is less formal so you can dress down a little as some of the other restaurants are really fine French style dining houses with Maitre D’s etc and you really need to dress the part to fit in. It is a restaurant near the theatre called Yabba Island Grill and you will find a more in depth review of this restaurant in the dining section but I can highly recommend the food and full bar, the cocktails were quite something too!
On the particular evening we were out in Naples 5th Avenue South there was some street entertainment laid on and you may be lucky enough to catch some of this on your visit.
