A Leisurely Day in the Cocoa Beach Area Part 2 - Orlando / Florida Guide

Florida Guide > Places to Visit

Having spent a few hours on Melbourne Beach it was now late afternoon and we headed towards Cocoa Beach for a meal. We were travelling along the coast road and there did not seem many dining facilities around so we stopped at a garage to ask and they directed us a mile or two further on to Coconuts on the Beach and told us how to get access into their car park. I am so glad we asked because we would probably have passed it by as it is not that visible from the coast road.

As we parked we could immediately hear the live music and were delighted to find a very busy restaurant directly on the beach. There was also parking space for bicycles as well as some smart looking motorbikes. It was a real beach restaurant everyone so casually dressed and enjoying beach life. It serves lunch from 11. 00am to 5. 00pm and Dinner from 5. 00pm until 10. 00pm and has different special offers on drinks every day.

There is a Tiki bar in one part of the restaurant which was full of younger visitors enjoying the sun and their drinks. More undercover was a central bar area which has live TV surrounded by loads of tables as well as another outdoor decking area and although continually busy the service was great and we did not have to wait long to find a table. We were lucky to get one in the sun overlooking the beach where there was a great volleyball game going on.

We immediately ordered cold drinks and enjoyed between us a Banana Daquiri, ice cold beer and wine, the girls having apple juice. Coconuts boast they serve fish straight from the local fishing fleet and there were lots of people enjoying this.

My Mother and I opted for shrimp she had the Coconut Crusted Shrimp which was served with coconut curry sauce while I had Pineapple Thai shrimp which in addition to pineapple had Thai chilli sauce and came with rice and broccoli they were both delicious. My Father enjoyed a Mahi Fillet which came with black beans and rice whilst the girls both had Alfredo Pasta one with Chicken and one with Shrimp. Whilst we had no room for a dessert my Father had to complete his meal with his usual Key Lime Pie. We all agreed we could not have had better food or atmosphere.

It was still an hour until sunset so we walked from the restaurant onto the beach the adults sat in their chairs whilst the girls had a stroll along the beach. We watched the sun go down before we headed back to the villa, a perfect end to a leisurely day.
