What car types are available with Satellite Navigation Systems?
- You can hire a Sat Nav system for any vehicle type.
Can I book a Sat Nav system even though I booked my car hire with another company?
- Yes, the units are available to hire regardless of which supplier you used for the car rental.
How and when will I receive my Sat Nav system?
- We will send the unit to you by overnight courier 2 days before your rental start date. You (or someone on you behalf) must be available to sign for the delivery. You may use a works address for delivery if necessary. You will be notified by email when the unit is dispatched and given a tracking number so you can track the package online or by phone with Parcel Force.
How do I send the Satellite System back to you after the rental period?
- When you return home, you must dispatch the unit back to us by the working day following your rental. You can use the same packaging as used to send the unit to you. We will provide a pre-paid Parcel Force return-slip, so simply take the package to any local post office.
Is the system easy to use?
- The system is very easy to use, being design with the 'non-technical' person in mind. Use clear, easy to use on-screen buttons to tell the system where you would like to navigate to. The clear screen gives you a 3d real-time view of your actual position with clear markings to show you which exit to take, as well as clear spoken instructions.
What happens if when driving I take a wrong turn?
- If you take a wrong turn, the Sat Nav unit will quickly work out the new route from your current position, either telling you where next to take a U turn, or simply working out a totally new route from where you are.
How to I tell the system to direct me to my accommodation?
- Wherever you are in the US, simply touch any part of the screen, then touch the 'Navigate To' button, then touch the 'Home' button and away you go!
Do you provide a power cable / charger with the unit?
- A cable is provided to plug in to the cigarette lighter / power outlet on your car. Whilst plugged in, this also charges the in-built battery in the unit.
Do you provide a mounting kit with the unit?
- Yes, this is provided, and can be used in all vehicle types.
How does the system know where I am?
- This is a complex system, but the system uses what is known as GPS (Global Positioning System). There are approx 24 satellites in orbit beaming information down to Earth. The Sat Nav system continuously listens to these signals and by working out the distance to each of the satellites can calculate the current position on the Earth's surface.
